Providing my guests with a home away from home experience

In 1977, I established Park South B&B as I wanted to showcase a traditional Irish welcome for visitors and aid them in exploring Ireland and its hidden treasures. I started when my daughter was 6 months old and my son was two and half. I find it very rewarding and a great social life as the guests that have stayed are from all nationalities and explore and base in this area of Ireland for so many different reasons. I still remember putting up my B&B sign and getting my first cycling tourists off the road. They were Dutch and vegetarian, which was unheard of in Ireland at that time. Since that day I have seen so many changes in the business but I have adapted and grown and never looked back from grilling the bread to toast and having one bathroom for all my guests. My daughter is always onto me to write a book to tell all the stories and tales which I have experienced. The reason I continue this service to my guests is I believe in providing guests, who are travelling, a true Irish welcome whilst maintaining that home away from home experience. I love welcoming my guests into my home with homemade baking on arrival and a cuppa to help them relax and unwind after their day. I provide guests with information on local sites, historical attractions and activities to see and visit in the surrounding areas and counties. I also advise on nearby pubs and restaurants. My daughter has assisted me in transitioning into this new digital age as previously guests were touring and if their route passed your door they would, call in and if you had vacancies book a room for the night. Nowadays guests plan and book ahead based on reviews and recommendations before they leave on holidays. It is great to work with my daughter and see the next generation take interest by propelling it to the next level whilst maintaining the core values of a family and a home away from home experience which is the foundation of what Park South Accommodation was built on. We are always striving to improve the quality and standard of the accommodation which we offer to those who visit, to experience that unique Irish home experience. My properties provide an ideal central base for touring Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.
